It’s that time of year again! One of our favorite traditions is back: the School of Motion Holiday Card. Students and non-students alike are invited to take part.

We’ve landed on a theme and color palette, so you can start thinking about your animation. Read through the details below, then register your name and theme.

Sign up with your name and topic by Thursday, November 19th to join this year’s holiday card!

Project Submission Deadline: Thursday, December 3, 2026 at 5pm ET

What do I need to know?

Create a three-second animation inspired by this year’s theme. In the spirit of the season, we’ll share the project files with the community so everyone can learn from one another.

Video Specs + Rules

  • 1920x1080

  • 24 FPS

  • Use the color palette below.

  • You can use shades of these, plus white and black.

  • Animation is to be 3 seconds long

  • Use any software, plugins, style - Go crazy!

  • Submit your project files along with your animation. We’ll share them with the community so everyone can explore how each piece was made and learn from one another.

File Specs

  • Format: A single ZIP file containing project files and final video.

  • Naming: Give the same name to your project, render, and zip file

    • Example: FirstnameLastname_Topic
