AE Beta Gets Editable Illustrator Text, Artstation AI Policy | Motion Mondays

This week, The After Effects beta now supports editable text from Illustrator files, which closes a handoff gap that's been painful for years. Photoshop 27.10 adds a Light Adjustment Layer for non-destructive compositing control, a Markup tool for spatially guiding AI edits, and mask-based input for generative tools. Illustrator 30.8 adds bulk relink for broken file paths and Select Through Shadows. On the ArtStation front, the NoAI tag is now auto-applied to all portfolios and Cloudflare is being used to block AI crawlers, though AI art itself is not being banned from the platform.

Also, a ton of interesting new tools including EDGY, a $15 geometry-based wear-and-damage plugin for C4D and Blender, Glazier, a liquid glass plugin for Cavalry, CrossStreak for After Effects, Easify 4, which drops a real graph editor into Premierea, and a free HDRI dome floor setup for Blender from Gleb Alexandrov. Plus, cool work from Rocketpanda, Hirokazu Yokohara, and Lucas Camargo with our student spotlight on Gro Vik currently taking our Advanced Motion Methods course. In addition, it's the last call for Half Rez in Chicago this Friday!
